Today’s theme song is a word that I have probably heard more times in my life than any other. It’s a word that my friends, family and probably blog readers would like to say to me about 10 times a day: RELAX.
Incidentally, the song Relax, the debut single by British dance group Frankie Goes to Hollywood, was released in 1983, the same year this Sometimes Healthy Girl was born. Coincidence? I think not. If my mother had known I would turn into a stress-case that guzzles Reddi Whip cans by the dozen, she probably would have played it for me as a lullaby in my crib.
Some of you might also recognize this song from the popular movie, Zoolander, where it also makes a cameo.
This song doesn’t necessarily help me chill out, but sometimes ya just need someone to shout it at you. Subtlety doesn’t always cut it for this Sometimes Healthy Girl.
Anyway, as I barrel down the home stretch towards my vacation of bliss at Spa Sometimes Healthy in Omaha, NE, I can definitely help myself out by reminding myself to RELAX.
Can you benefit from a little bit of relaxing too?? (Note: This video is hilarious)
And finally, if you are stressed and you live in NYC, I suggest you head on over to Cowgirl’s Baking for some vegan DEEP FRIED KOOL-AID BALLS.
I read about this unique treat in my morning Thrillist newsletter on the subway, and haven’t been able to take my mind off of it. I decided right then and there that I’d find an excuse to include this goody in my blog post today, no matter what. Pretty sure there is no better way to end a post than with deep-fried kool-aid, so I’ll leave you with this beautiful image…and dreams of a healthified version.
What song do you listen to when you want to chill out/relax?
