Happy Friday! Today we’re going to talk about quirks.
One of the “exciting” things about new relationships is discovering the little quirks about a person that make he or she special. (Ok, let’s be honest, sometimes these “quirks” are just strange and not as endearing as one would hope). Well, I happen to be a very unique individual, so I know my BF has had a wonderful time discovering all of my quirks. He’s still not done yet…there’s plenty more.
For example, he is “fascinated”by my propensity to eat foods that a five-year-old consumes. Each time he looks at me in pure shock, I say to him, “Hey, you’re never too old!” Plus, when I become a mother, I can save on groceries by just eating whatever my toddler eats.
Anyway, I thought it might be fun to do some semi-regular posts on these foods and why I enjoy them. Call it nostalgia, call it Peter Pan Syndrome, call it whatever you want. All I know is that it is fun to let loose and enjoy a Dunkaroo every now and then!
You’re never too old….
TO EAT GOLDFISH ON A DAILY BASIS
When I was little, one of my favorite snacks was Country Time Lemonade served with pretzel Goldfish. I was a demanding little 5-year-old.
And, I as I draw closer and closer to the point-of-no-return also known as 30, it’s still one of my favorite snacks. I updated it a bit with a classy lemonade and pretty dish.
You’re never too old…
TO GIGGLE WITH GLEE EVERY TIME THEY LAUNCH A NEW FLAVOR OF GOLDFISH
Sometimes I think that the people from Pepperidge Farm read my mind. If I could eat french toast for a snack every day without packing on the lbs, I would. But instead, I can get my fix with tiny little bite-sized french-toast flavored Goldfish.
Oh, and brownies, vanilla cupcakes, cookies n’ cream and s’mores. Can you imagine if there were an actual pond full of these Goldfish? It would be like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’s chocolate river…only better.
Which brings me to my next point. You’re never too old to chow down on ice cream, while watching Willy Wonka and Chocolate Factory.
And finally, you’re never too old
TO EAT SPRINKLES FOR BREAKFAST!
Today, I was craving cake for breakfast, but being a Sometimes Healthy Girl, I couldn’t give into the urge. So, instead, I compromised.
Cake Batter Oatmeal, topped with cherries, whipped cream, a little chocolate syrup and, of course, sprinkles!
I made the oatmeal on the stovetop:
- Bring to a boil 1 1/4 cup of Almond Milk
- Stir in 1/2 cup oats and 1 tsp of Vanilla extract; stir for about 4 minutes
- Stir in 1/4 cup of yellow cake batter; add extra almond milk if necessary
- Top with cake toppings of your choice!
This, my friends, is the definition of a Sometimes Healthy breakfast: health with the oatmeal and sweet with the cake batter!
If you have any kids, this is the perfect way to fool your child into falling in love with oatmeal. Or, it’s the perfect way to fool yourself into thinking that you are having a healthy breakfast 😉
YOUR TURN!
Tell me about your childlike food habits that you just can’t kick. Tell me about the foods you eat just to make yourself feel young and go for a ride on the nostalgia train. I know you’ve got more than a few. And, if I hear back from enough of you, this may become a regular post…
That oatmeal looks amazing!!! I am soooo trying this!
Let me know if you like it!
I never knew they had so many different flavors of goldfish!! You’ve definitely sparked a craving in me ;). That oatmeal looks delicious by the way!
I am glad I have opened your eyes to the wonderful world of flavored Goldfish…Cupcake and French Toast are the best flavors!
Can’t wait to hear about the BF’s quirks 🙂
I could probably do an entire series on that! Starting with his favorite snack: He sucks on nugget pretzels and then chases it with orange juice. It is an odd ritual 😉 I’m sure you know a lot of them too!!
Your pantry looks exactly like my snack shelf i.e. four bags of assorted Goldfish sitting next to me right now–I’m totally going crazy over the new flavors!
Good to know i am not alone with this weird obsession 🙂
I love eating Teddy Grahams, fruit snacks, or Kool-Aid. 🙂
All good things. Especially the Teddy Grahams. YUM!
That oatmeal sounds amazing. I must try it.
That oatmeal looks amazing!!! 🙂 I also eat lots of things that little kids like and my husband always makes fun of me for it. haha
