A much as I love laying out by the pool, drinking pretty margaritas and dancing up a storm, I am most certainly a creature of habit.

I’m a “routine girl.” And after a few days of straying from my NY routine, I’m always ready to go back to the daily grind. So by Sunday morning, I was ready to “Get into the groove,” as Madonna says.
Back in the Game
I was very pleased to get into NYC early enough yesterday to ensure I could revert back to my routine this AM. Last night, in honor of Easter and to ensure I would get my week started off right, I prepped my new favorite breakfast: Egg Muffins!
This time I made two different kinds: California-style and Tropical. The California Egg Muffin contained turkey, peppers, mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes. However, I definitely preferred the Tropical Egg Muffins which included mangos, red peppers, cream cheese and raisins. This was a strangely brilliant combination.
So with my breakfast prepped and coffee ready to go for the AM, I was ensured a successful return to the “groove’ right? Wrong! All the Egg Muffins in the world just weren’t enough to motivate me complete my normal Monday AM run. I woke up, walked downstairs and something was calling my name:
Yep, I moved from my bed to the couch and spent another 90 minutes sleeping. Would I have preferred to start my week with a nice jog in Central Park? Yes! Am I going to dwell on my extra 90 minutes of sleep? Nope 🙂
Instead, I’ll find ways to turn that Monday Frown Upside Down:
- Carrots n’ Cake, the book, was released early: Tina’s book is now on shelves in the Health section of Barnes and Noble. Congrats Tina!
- Easter Recaps: I don’t celebrate Easter but it sure is fun to read about other Easter traditions. I enjoyed reading about the Two Rounds of Fun that made up Julie’s Easter, as well as her excitement at being able to consume sweets again. Kristin’s Easter recap included mouth-watering dishes, Easter egg baskets, Elmo AND a vodka tasting competition. Finally, Courtney’s recap was just as vibrant and colorful as always, and I loved how her family switched it up with breakfast for dinner. Oh and this isn’t a recap, but everyone should take a look at Jess’ sinful cupcake fondue. It might just be one of her best ideas ever, and clearly this brilliant recipe doesn’t need to be reserved for only Easter. In fact, after viewing this recipe, I think we should create a “Cupcake Fondue” holiday.
- Easter Leftovers: Even though I didn’t partake in any Easter action, I g0t to enjoy some Easter treats provided by my coworkers, including these lovely cupcakes from the always-delish Buttercup Bake Shop:
- Spring Flowers and Other SeasonalGifts: I could talk about the large amount of rain we’ve had here in NYC but instead I’ll focus on the good stuff:
I have a lot of unpacking and wedding recapping to do tonight. Plus, I need to fit in my workout at some point as well (Since I missed it this morning ;-)). Therefore, I’m predicting a Kitchen Sink Salad in my immediate future…Stay tuned.
Enjoy the rest of your Monday!
Question:
Are you a routine person? How do you get back to your normal routine after a crazy weekend?
Wahoo! Thanks so much for the shout out! 🙂
AND I just bought the book. Absolutely LOVE IT so far. Can’t wait to keep reading later tonight. And I have told all of my friends from home, my mother, my hair stylist, pretty much every woman I know, to buy your book. GO TINA!
Thanks for the shout out pretty lady! 🙂
P.S. – Jealous of your 16 Handles! I just found out that we recently had one open near me, so I’ve been itching to get there…hopefully this week!
YOU MUST GO THERE. But warning, you may start to feel the urge to stop eating real meals and replace with frozen yogurt. Just wanted to give ya the heads up 😉
Wonderful pictures! And, when it’s raining all the time, just go outside and stomp around a bit and rejoice for all the flowers it will bring. it’s great fun! Just don’t wear white, like I did accidentally a few years back ;-D
hahaha noted – I will not wear white: promise! Thanks for reading!
Wow, those tulips are so pretty! Definitely a sure sign that spring is here. I recently added your blog to my reader and love it so much! Keep it up, girl!
Thank you so much for adding to your reader. Hope you continue to enjoy the posts!
Those little egg mcmuffins look so cute! And your froyo is making me think that I really want so froyo too, haha! Glad you had fun in Texas!
I am definitely a creature of habit. That’s part of why I’m so glad I married a super spontaneous man. He keeps things lively and fun. 🙂
Smart move! I think that would be the right thing for me to do too. A smart and QUIET man (so I can do the talking ;-)) Glad you think the egg muffins look good!
I am CERTAINLY a routine person, as I have written about 🙂
I get so anxious without it but am finally getting that it’s okay to go out of your comfort zone once in awhile. It won’t be bad for you and will actually be quite beneficial!
Thanks for the positive post, I love the pictures as well
Yes must work on getting out of the ol’ comfort zone a little more!
I’m definitely a creature of habit! When I’m away I just do my best to embrace foods and activities that I can’t get at home and then when I return I just get right back into my routine.
Those cupcakes look amazing, that was the Easter treat I was hoping to get but didn’t! 😛
They are amazing! Definitely some of the best in NYC 😉
I’m very much a routine person. That’s one thing I look forward to when I’m on vacation is getting back into the routine of things when I get back.
Me too!! I can’t wait to feel like I’m back in it again…
I am SO a routine person. I usually just try to pick up the routine as soon as I can when I return home from a trip. Sometimes I like to take an extra day off work to get settled and back into the grove too. Sounds like you had a great weekend! I could watch the dogs play in CS Park for many hours and be entertained 🙂
Yes I should have taken another day off! That is the key ;-). I love dog parks. I am so glad they’re all over this city. They almost make up for me not having a dog…
All of those tulips are gorgeous 🙂
And one of the dogs in your picture is my favorite breed of dog- Cavalier King Charles! I just LOVE them..too bad I can’t have one because Craig is allergic…well, and they cost like $4000! Crazy!!
I don’t blame you, that blanket does look very inviting 😉
I love Cavalier King Charles too! Between them and beagles, I’m torn. I wish I could have a dog in NYC! You should get a hypo-allergenic dog 😉
